 What is Sustainable Teak Furniture?-

At Mr Teak, we pride ourselves on our sustainability. For us, selling furniture is more than just providing customers with attractive teak pieces. It’s about sourcing and delivering only the highest quality wood available from sustainable plantations in Indonesia in order to fight illegal logging.

Unfortunately, woodlands and forests around the world are being illegally ravaged, causing devastating results to the wildlife and their eco-systems. As a result, the Indonesian government has taken steps to stop this by managing their tree plantations. This involves diligent supervising of the age, size and number of trees cut down from each plantation as well as strict replanting programmes such as Trees4Trees, an non-profit organisation that Mr Teak supports. Not only do they work towards reforestation, but they also strive to educate society about the impact of logging on communities and the environment.

SVLK (Sistem Verificasi Legalitas Kayu) is the mandatory national timber legality and sustainability certification system in Indonesia that ensures wood is ethically and legally sourced. All of our outdoor furniture is SVLK certified, meaning you can be 100% sure that the wood used to make it is legally sourced and sustainable.

All of our products are sent out Via recycled materials, we reuse and repurpose all of the excess wood, cardboard & packaging we can to make sure that nothing goes to waste, helping to lower our carbon footprint.

Why choose us?

Although Mr Teak prices may occasionally be more expensive than our competition, this is because we source all of our timber from Legal Sustainable Sources. However, we believe that this is a price worth paying to ensure you have only the highest quality sustainable wood without having a negative impact on the environment.

In doing so, you are helping towards the fight against deforestation as well as making sure more trees are planted to replace those that were used to make your furniture. Not only does this reduce your carbon footprint, but also guarantees the longevity of your products due to the quality of the wood and the high standard of joinery we have upheld for 20 years.
